HMS Upholder (P37) was a U-class submarine built by Vickers-Armstrongs in Barrow-in-Furness and commissioned in 1940. Under the command of Lieutenant Commander Malcolm David Wanklyn, the submarine completed 24 patrols and sank over 93,000 tons of enemy shipping, including warships and merchant vessels. Wanklyn was awarded the Victoria Cross for his exceptional service.
