Cessna Citation SII airplane model. The Cessna Citation, announced in 1968, was one of the first of the new generation of turbofan-powered business jets, a response to growing pressure from environmentalists for quieter engines and from operators for better fuel economy. When the Prototype flew for the first time on September 15, 1969, and deliveries began in 1972.
